Dr. Hugh Dunleavy

Dr. Hugh Dunleavy is a distinguished leader in the global aviation industry with a career spanning over twenty-five years and a renowned reputation that extends to academia and industry thought leadership as a guest lecturer at prestigious institutions such as MIT and Columbia University in the United States. 

 

Holding a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Sheffield University, Dr. Dunleavy has leveraged his analytical skills and deep understanding of complex systems to drive innovation and growth in the global airline sector.  Instrumental in shaping the strategic direction and commercial success of prominent carriers including Qatar Airways, Malaysia Airlines, WestJet Airlines, Lufthansa Systems, and Air Canada, Dr. Dunleavy has been responsible for overseeing all commercial aspects of airline operations. Notably, while serving as Executive Vice President of WestJet Airlines, Dr. Dunleavy transformed the airline from a domestic carrier into a prominent international player significantly increasing its market share in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. 

 

At Malaysia Airlines, where Dr. Dunleavy served as Chief Commercial Officer from 2012 to 2015, he was tasked with revitalizing the airline’s commercial operations.​
